Dr. Amba Pande is affiliated with the School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. She earned her M.Phil. and PhD in International Studies from JNU. Her research interests include the Indian Diaspora, international migration, transnationalism, and gender/women’s studies. She has served as a visiting faculty member and scholar at the University of Amsterdam (the Netherlands), the University of the South Pacific (Fiji), Otago University (New Zealand), and Anton de Kom University of Suriname.
Dr Pande is a prolific writer with many publications to her credit in national and international journals and edited volumes. She has authored a book on Regional Security in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Her edited volumes include Women in the Indian Diaspora: Historical Narratives and Contemporary Challenges (Springer, Singapore, 2018); Indentured and Post-Indentured Experiences of Women in the Indian Diaspora (Springer Singapore, 2020); and, as co-editor, Women, Gender, and the Legacy of Slavery and Indenture (Routledge, UK).
She is a regular reviewer for numerous international journals, books, and book series. Dr. Pande has received several fellowships and has conducted major research projects on the Indian Diaspora in Fiji, Myanmar, and Southeast Asia. She has presented papers at several conferences and has been invited as a resource person, Keynote speaker, and Valedictory speaker at several conferences.
