The Society

India International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (IISECS) was started in 2017.

It was officially registered in April 2018 under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 and the rules framed there under.

The purpose of the Society (IISECS) is to advance interest in all aspects of the 'long' eighteenth century within India and abroad, and to encourage research and investigation in the study of art, culture and history on a broad interdisciplinary basis in the region and beyond. The Society is non-profit-making and non-political. Its aim is to foster exchanges, contacts and meetings between area specialists, promotion and sharing of knowledge on the long eighteenth century, and to provide a platform for younger scholars and researchers.

The Society organises an annual conference and talks by distinguished experts and academicians. We interact, coordinate, and network with various regional, national and international institutions, and individuals to make these interactions successful and productive for students, teachers and researchers.
